Welcome to a journey around flute #142.

This page shows the artwork on a single flute. This particular flute is in F# major.

Notice the "Coyote Clay" artist's symbol in the upper right photo. This is typical decoration for my flutes, although each is unique. As my flute philosophy states, every single instrument is also a work of art. These flutes are not mass produced but are individually carved and decorated to suit a particular compositional requirement.

So sit back and enjoy this trip. Even though this flute will never be made again it will serve as an example of my work.

Thank you,
~Coyote Clay~

Horse Left side
We will start this journey at the barrel of the left side of the flute. You can see the horse's head and also get a glimpse of the sea turtle, the crane and the buffalo.
Left Side
This shot gives you a better view of the sea turtle, the crane, the buffalo, and the beetle. You can also see the coyote's head in this view.
Left Saddle
Above is the left saddle and below is the right saddle. Notice how the design on both sides travels from the flute body right up to the saddle.
Right Saddle
Right Side
In this view you can see a bee, a butterfly with what looks like a blessing ceremony to the right of it. Then there is the coyote's upside down body followed by 5 eyes and then you can see the beginning of the eagles head.
Right side eagles head
This view gives you the full eagles head with a petroglyph of a horse in front of it.
Top
In this view of the top of the flute you can see more petroglyphs along with the intricate design that is around the holes.
Face on the bottom

This is a view of the bottom of the barrel.

It clearly shows the great detail that went into the face. This had to be done by putting 2 pictures together because the face goes around the barrel and you could not see the whole thing from one picture.

You can see the bottom of the horse's jaw at the top of the face. You also get a better view of the sea turtle and the coyote. You can also see an upside down bug underneath the turtle.
